Ed Craven, the founder of streaming service Kick, has died at the age of 30 following a car crash on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway early Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called shortly after 7:00am after Craven lost control of his Ferrari while travelling outbound near the Toorak Road exit, causing the vehicle to strike a roadside barrier and subsequently catch fire. Craven died at the scene.

Victoria Police said no other vehicles appear to have been involved. “Investigations into the exact circumstances are ongoing,” a spokesperson said, adding that speed and road conditions would form part of the inquiry.

The crash prompted significant disruption to morning traffic, with inbound lanes partially closed for several hours as forensic officers examined the site. Congestion extended into surrounding suburbs as commuters were diverted.

No public statement had been issued by Kick.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
